1) Correlation does not imply causation. The reason those countries "have very little crime" has virtually nothing to do with their lack of parole. Given that we incarcerate more people per capita than any other nation on earth and hand out longer average sentences than any other nation on earth, following your "logic", we should be the safest nation on earth... Right?

2) The Federal system abolished parole in 1987.
From 1987 to present, the volume federal incarcerations have absolutely exploded. So, you're wrong.

Thanks for letting me reply/post to the comments. Jacksonville is a unique city. There has always been more freedom here in many ways, kind of like a town/city. You have to drive about three times as far to get anywhere so when your kids grow up they need cars more than other cities. The open spaces are mostly gone now. You used to be able to ride a dirt bike from one end of town to the other. The woods are full of trash from contractors avoiding disposal fees. I have a suggestion. The city should sponsor a web site where concerned residents can post the addresses of those who use their homes to disrupt our neighborhoods. Gang style activity is not just drugs and violence. It is extreme anti social activity with the ultimate goal of running law abiding residents out of a neighborhood. I wish Police would be more proactive. Jacksonville used to be a quiet town. BTW: People here have always driven like Naples cab drivers.

Let these folk know. Nowhere in Jacksonville is safe. You can get knocked off on the Northside, Southside, Westside, Orange Park, doesn't matter. I think Jacksonville is more of a black and white city based on the geography of the city. The blacks are concentrated in N/NW Jax (until you're in the airport area), you have the Southside which is mostly white (you have a few blacks who live on the Southside but none like in North/NW Jax) and there's the Westside, which some parts are all black, others are mixture of black and white and others are strictly white. You can't get around without a car in Jacksonville.
