thanks for that link, La/Va/Fl, I never knew about thiss, and it gives me the absolute shivers to think about it, guess because I have two teens myself, and this link here:

always makes me just horrified to think of gang violence in our society, I have to agree with the poster who believes it has somewhat been brought in by the other tragedies like Katrina and illegal immigration, one tragedy breeds another when people are angry and disappointed in how their lives have been torn down by disappointment/govt misuse... but then some people just enjoy the horror....I pray for this to not get any worse in our sunny state... God help us all...Luann

I don't know, but I was born and raised in Jacksonville and I have lived there for all but three years of my life, and I loved it! My husband and I are actually moving back in August. I have never been a victim of any kind of crime in Jax, but shortly after I moved to the tiny "city" of Palm Coast my car was broken into. Seeing as how Jacksonville is the largest city in the state of FL and the 3rd largest city on the east coast, I would expect their to be a decent amount of crime, only because it is a large city. There is crime everywhere, and of course there is going to be more crime in large cities.

But our crime statistics have been steady for years. If you look at the years before and after Katrina, there is little to no change in the stats, so how is there more crime post-Katrina??

my daughter loves those Jack Russells, lol...your forum name is just so cute tho, thanks for sharing ladies!....
Rivera, I know about those stats, but I just remember my son telling me about some Katrina evacuees who came to his school and they were so ruff they had wrestled some of the white girls under the bus, they were black from N. Orleans and had no homes and I suppose they were either just frustrated or mad they had to end up here...I hope by now theyve reconciled their destines, I know the FEMA victims could have not had it worse, oh my gosh, it was just so horrible, so maybe someday ...but I hear ya, hope we dont get anymore probs in our River City....

Those charts are a bit misleading. I compared several cities and the charts don't look the same. You would think that if you only change one city, the national average and the city that stayed the same would have the same charts.
It probably works ok if you are comparing two cities that are close to the same population.
