Met our new landlord today and paid deposit and pet fee. In the future will be enjoying relaxing on the balcony overlooking Memorial Park. Couldn't be happier about this. All taking place from listing to selling to closing and moving to dream location, in six short weeks. The Universe is guiding us.

Good suggestions except for 2 of #5 Three Layers Café, or Chamblins Uptown are both (downtown or Springfield) a little ways from Riverside while Bold Bean and Starbucks are in Riverside with Starbucks being right at Memorial Park where the OP lives. Plus Einsteins bagels (right across the street from Memorial Park in the 1661 Riverside building) has what some claim is a good/great coffee bar, but as I don't drink coffee I can't really comment on it, one way or the other. Why Starbucks Sucks - The Chicago Snob (http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/the-chicago-snob/2011/01/why-starbucks-sucks.html - broken link) ... doesn't work for me all I get is 404 Not Found ... I don't drink coffee so I can't comment on whether Starbucks sucks or not

Starbucks isn't my thing but some people like it. I'd say avoid Three Layers because the two times I've gone it has been sub par. But check it out once, anyway - maybe you'll have better luck.
