Unfortunately, serious crime such as this can and do happen in all parts of Jax.

These aren't E. St. Louis though.

However, if there's one general area of Jax to avoid, it would be the Northwest quadrant. The greatest concentration of serious crime in Jax happens there.

As I have stated in another currently ongoing thread;
Along with the inner north side from 20th Street to the Trout river
most of the old Arlington area
and the inner west side from I-95 to I-295 along Beaver Street.

Nah, she's still alive.

People new to the south, and especially Jacksonville are shocked to see how close "nice/upscale" parts of town are so close to "ghetto/trashy" areas. Up north and in the midwest you have invisible lines and boundaries between nice and bad areas of town. Down here its not like that, bad and nice areas are as close as one street apart from each other. Just keep your eyes open, and drive around the area both during the day and at night.

Just to make things clear - I was talking about driving at about 5-6 PM - not AM (I am usually still fast asleep at 5-6 AM). Robyn

Hmm,... I'm surprised. What search parameters did you use? Although, Jacksonville isn't as populous as Kansas City or Saint Louis I guess.

We're moving from Clay County, FL which is a lot like your description of KS, but we only have to move 25 miles to get into a different lifestyle. We only have 2 weeks left before we move out of our traditional bungalow into a pint-size condo with no storage and not much closet space. We are so looking forward to downsizing and moving to Five Points in the heart of Riverside, across from parks, near the Y, walking to most everywhere including the grocery store. I don't think you'd go wrong with one of the apartments available for $600-700 in one of, if not the most dynamic areas of Jax. Jacksonville is a bunch of towns all put together to make one big city, diverse and very interesting, but takes awhile to figure out where you want to be.

Just curious - how many SF does a "pint-size" condo have. Robyn
