Nease High School was rated the 81st best high school in 2007, 91st in 2008, 93rd in 2009 , and 185th in 2010 by Newsweek.
The highest state ranking Nease has ever achieved is #4

IIRC - we have < 10 houses in Marsh Landing in Duval County. Duval County and St. Johns County have an agreement where Duval County pays SJC some money so the kids in these houses can go to SJC schools. Probably saves Duval County a fair amount of money because these houses are pretty "deep" in Marsh Landing (basically across the marsh if you're going over the JTB bridge to the beaches) - and not very close at all to Duval County schools. It would probably cost Duval County a bunch of money to provide bus transportation to Duval County schools for the few kids that live there who attend public schools. I don't know whether a similar arrangement would make sense for 100 houses in Nocatee (especially if these houses are being designed to attract families with children). Robyn

That's about the only buyer I can imagine that would pick a home in Nocatee that's in Duval rather than St Johns, since schools really wouldn't matter. Even a "first time homebuyer" might have young kids or eventually plan to have kids, and as far as resale, I just can't imagine they could compete w/ SJC.

I didn't realize 15% of Nocatee was Duval.

You can view the county line @ Nocatee Community Project - Site
Click on Nocatee
You can add County Lines at the bottom on the menu on the left hand side of the page.

I heard that the chunk of land across from KellyPointe was/is owned by Ryland homes. It was slatted to be developed as one community and is divided by the county line.

Also the original plan for Highland Lakes shows an expansion into property that is in Duval county, but I think those plans have changed. I haven't been able to locate a new plat map for Highland Lakes. Some changes have been filed with St. John's county.

My husband and I are looking to retire (appx in 4 yrs, but not in the active adult age yet) and norrowed it down to Peachtree City GA or Jacksonville FL(Don't know much about JAX) but recently read about Nocatee and seems like it can grow to be a nice place (like Peachtree), I am concerned about safety, high fees (read the CCD, HOA and Property tax can get pretty expensive). Our wants are small home, a nice walkable place with shops, supermarkets, walking trails, pet friendly, etc....no need for pools or children amenities, ........I would greatly appreciate any feedback

There are a lot of threads here about Nocatee - and you can read through them to find out what things are like today. If your timetable for moving is 4 years from now - I'd just sit back and see what happens (a lot can happen in 4 years). Robyn
