Oh no, HIF you had to remind her??!
On the general pizza topic, I ventured out solo recently and checked out Pizza Stella in Dupont Station. Authentic and pretty good. The crust was different, kind of salty...a good thing if you like salty (I liked it).
Pizza Stella is in Dupont Station. Dupont Station is in Dupont (obviously !) which is a part of San Jose. Athens Cafe - mentioned on our Greek Food thread - is in the same location. Here's the address of Pizza Stella:
3615 Dupont Avenue (right off St. Augustine Road, south of University Blvd)
I'd put Pizza Stella on the same level as Pizza Bella, and not because they rhyme!
Picasso's still rocks and is my current fave!
Karla, DM-ing you......

ok the jax pizza patrol party and Elmo checking in to report on our visit to Picasso's
I was very impressed the pizza was great
great crust great sauce
I really enjoyed my plain cheese pizza while the others enjoyed i think sausgae on one half and eggplant on the other half
and if the pizza was great the conversation was even better
Elmo didn't have to much to say though was was really funny is the owner has one for his daughter

Jax Pizza Patrol- new venue update
The C-D Jax Forum Pizza Patrol was on the move today. Karla, Riveree and I were joined by a new PP member, mawipafl. WELCOME MA!
We went to Picasso's, my fav pizza joint. Karla arrived shortly after I did and proceeded to grill Scott on his pizza philosophy...
Once he was properly vetted by the pizza queen of Jax, I ordered a pizza. Half eggplant parm, half (homemade) sausage & peppers to knosh on while we looked at the menu. I forgot that Karla was a "cheese only" pizza lover, so she ordered a small cheese for herself. We never ordered anything else- too much pizza and too much talking......the pizza was great (best in Jax, IMHO).
I had to scoot after an hour, but the rest of the PP carried on for a couple of hours.
Here is a pix of your C-D Jax Pizza Patrol. In alpha order, can you guess who is who (or is it whom is whom)?
HIF
Karla With A K
Mawipafl
Riveree
Of course our new mascot Elmo was with us, but I figure you can pick him/her/it out, as he/she/it is not covering his/her/its face.
Since Riveree is a mod, can we consider this a C-D sanctioned event?!
Weird sidenote: Karla pointed out that as the picture was being taken, we were all smiling as though we were taking a regular pix.
Thank you Great Oz for creating CD. I met Karla a year ago because of this site, riveree months ago and now mawipafl. I never would have met these great women without this site!
XXOO,
HIFFY

We'd love to have you join us! Invites have mainly stemmed from DM relationships. One of us is particularly sensitive to privacy issues.

lol what hif didn't tell you is we had another customer "angelo" take the picture it seems we are having so much fun that th other customers want to join in .
ok so as I was "inquiring" as to the pizza makings if you look in the background of the picture you will see the other guy he is taking fresh made chocolate chip walnut cookies off a cookie sheet.
Now those of you that follow the daily exercise thread know what a chocoholic I am.
He proceeds to tell me that there is more chocolate than cookie and "just wait till you try them"
rofl as hif was leaving he gave her 1 cookie for us to try 1!! did he not count 4 of us
so we cut it into 4 pieces and hif had to leave so of course someone had to eat her piece
lol apvbguy
we are accepting new applications for membership into the PPP
completed applications that are accompanied by 2 dozen NJ poppy seed bagels will be moved to the top of the list for membership review .

You all exude an air of importance (ooo is "exude" an SAT word?). Do you know who the older gent was who stopped and asked if we were pizza reviewers? He seemed a little nervous or perhaps just shy, but he came out of Picasso's, mailed some letters, then went back into Picasso's. HIF, would he have been one of the owner? (You had left before this event.)
I can recommend the pizza at Picasso's -- deliciously fresh and not a drop of grease. I also enjoyed that the toppings were not overloaded so you could actually taste the saugage, peppers, eggplant, sauce, and cheese. Our pie was the New York style - a soft-dough-lover's delight. I'd love to try the St Louis thin crust the next time -- ha, maybe I'll do a little of both :-)
Oh, yeah, and the cookies are to die for. If the original French chef who brought creme brulee to the USA created the cookie recipe, well, then, it makes total sense why that chocolate cookie disappeared so quickly.

rofl ma I think you just gave me tomorrows word of the day
You know come to think of it that was a little strange, at first I thought maybe he was in there listening to our carrying on but then I didn't remember him being in there.
omg how cool would it be if the PPP actually did go to places(with Elmo of course) and wrote actual reviews for something like the Folio.
Rofl and the picture would be of us behind the paper plates
We may have to ad another "P"
Paper Plate Pizza Patrol
