Default its official Arlington is the Worst area in Jacksonville!

I can remember in the 90 Arlington was a peaceful quiet area. Now it is the capital of all things wrong & evil in Duval. Where did all these bad people come from? Is it the people who were slowly clean out of Riverside & Springfield? , because I remember both areas being really rough in the 80s before both areas were gentrified. Arlington just needs a big walk built around it & keep those hoodlums in one spot. No one should ever bother fixing up that area.

Having lived in Arlington and worked in just about every other municipality in Jacksonville, I'd say Arlington is far from the worst place in town. Are there bad areas? Yes. However, there are far more good areas than bad. Take a drive through the area around MLK and Moncrief, you'll change your mind.

I know this maybe too much to ask. But since you really know Jacksonville..what are the good areas and what are the bad areas. I may move to Jacksonville early next year and don't know that place. I will be looking for an affordable place that is in a good area. An area that is peaceful and family friendly. I can't be far from Arlington because I believe that is where our church will be located. Thanks.

Certainly there are worse areas than Arlington but it's been on a steady decline for a long while and you couldn't pay me to live anywhere in Arlington. Regency Mall has slowly turned into a cesspool.

The Northwest Jax pocket/quadrant is the worst area of town - by far.

Arlington is on it's inevitable decline, and should spring back up in about 30 years again. That's how sprawl/gentification works.

Never ending sprawl intoduces "new" and "nice" areas to live further outside of the city, therefoer not as many resoruces are directed to the existing established neighborhoods, they decline, until gentrification begins and the area is renewed.

Yes, that's what you've seen in Riverside, which used to be pretty sketchy 20-30 years ago, and Springfield, which use to be VERY sketchy even just 15 years ago. These neighborhoods are have new people with means moving in to improve hem, due to their obvious perks, and Arlington has people with means moving out of them, due to the steady decline.

The circle of life, per se.

Let's see ... armed robbery at the Walgreens in Riverside ... shooting near downtown ... smash mob at the Lem Turner Walmart ... yeah, let's put a wall around Arlington
