Default Rain and fire ants- warning for newcomers

I was reminded while walking my dog this morning that when it rains hard, fire ants float to the surface. And then they climb on your ankles and do what fire ants do best....ouch!

A spritz of rubbing alcohol helps post-attack bites feel better.

Isn't that the worst?

The bumps last forever and they're so itchy. I don't know about you guys, but if I get more than just a few bites, it tires me out too - I have to lay down for a while.

Newcomers should know too - fire ants are not natives here, so kill away ! I use a Bayer fire ant powder directly on the mounds, and it works well.

Fire ants are resilliant. You can thank Brazil for our first batch of them back in 1948. No stopping them now.

You know what else helps with a fire ant bite? If you don't have any alcohol, spray some hairspray on the bite and the alcohol in it really helps with the itch and burn.

Fire ants also will get on you and not sting you until the signal is given from Boss Fire Ant and then they all sting you at once.

One time i wuz workin on my truck and had crawled under it to drain the oil.

I had some fire ants get on me that I didnt know about until they all started stinging me at once.

I got out frum under that truck a lot quicker than I got under it!
