Do people join beach clubs?
Hi everyone -
A few people that I met when down in Jacksonville told me about The Lodge and the Cabbana Club. It seems it would be great for kids, beach activities, etc. I haven't yet looked into the cost, but was wondering what people thought. Do people join these or are there public beaches that are just as nice. What are the pros/cons? Any thoughts?
Thanks, Liz

Parking for the beach can be an issue, especially on the weekends and holidays. The best reason for a beach club membership.

ditto about the parking. In some places (by me in st augustine beach) you can drive on the beach for a fee ($30/$40 annual pass or $6 for one day) but in some places there is limited parking. They are def not nec for going to the beach but it may be a place to meet people.

The Lodge at PV is completely awesome and makes it so much easier to take the kids to the beach. With the pool nearby, you can spend some time at the beach and some time at the pool. Everyone's happy. Kind of pricey but if you can afford it I would definitely take advantage of what the Lodge has to offer.

Yeah, some people join beach clubs, it's a nice luxury to have if it works for you. If I could justify it, a membership at Ponte Vedra might be nice .
Parking can be somewhat of a pain, it depends beach-to-beach. In Jax, there seems to be plenty of beach parking from my experience, and in St. John's county you can get an annual beach pass and just park on the beach.
Just from this forum alone, it sounds like Mickler is getting more crowded, and my guess would be that it won't get better, so if that's your closest beach, then a beach club might be a real boon for you.

besides micklers there is almost no beach parking in PVB, so if you want an easy time of visiting the beach here and can afford it the beach clubs are a way to go. FWIW on weekdays micklers is easy to use, very crowded on weekends and in addition to the PV club and the lodge you can join sawgrass CC and have use of their beach club

I still think that the Cabana Club is the best deal in town. Not nearly as pricey as the other clubs because it doesn't have the golf course, workout rooms, etc. If you're just looking for a great beach with restaurant access, check it out. It also has nice programs and camps for kids plus special nights for football watching, bridge, bingo, whatever.

Also, a heated pool and mid-level fine dining are available. Two parking passes for weekday use, one for the weekend are issued. So, you not only get beach parking, additional services are accompanying the deal.

Thanks for all the great beach club info. So there is the Lodge, Cabanna club and Sawgrass, right? Also, where is Mickler beach? What are the other public beaches called? Thanks so much.

The Cabana Club is part of Sawgrass and is their beach blub. You can buy a membership at The Cabana Club with or without a joint membership to the spa at Sawgrass or Sawgrass Golf Club.
