It's more like 50 minutes to Jax International Airport. Check it out on Mapquest.

Having said that, we all tend to have honest reasons to defend where we live, partly because we have gotten used to our surroundings and partly because it makes us feel good about the investment we made back when.

And yes ... speaking of city limits, I can reach both downtowns, Jax and St. Aug in about the same time...the best of both worlds!

I'm actually really familiar with the commutes in and out of the WGV. I worked for one of the early developers of WGV and I commuted in and out of there 6 days a week for 3 years. I moved halfway through, so I commuted there from both St. Augustine and later from Jax. From the south end of San Marco, it took me 40 minutes down I95 to WGV and that was usually in the very early morning (light traffic) and driving 80 mph on the highway. That's just my experience though, the OP can take it for what it is .

It wasn't my intention to offend anyone or make them feel they have to defend where they live, but this is a forum of opinion and I'm going to be honest about what I feel are the pros and cons of an area. My opinion is only one and the OP can take whatever he/she wants from it or not - it's their choice.

My only point is this: some people are quite happy living within shouting distance from a Saint Johns Town Center while other people would prefer to live in a country setting (relatively speaking) and drive to the mall. Either way it's a personal choice. There is nothing wrong with either choice.

Having said that, developers are making sure that quiet, open spaces around here are not going to be quiet, open spaces for very long. However, the thing that makes this area different and reassuring to the people who live around WGV is that the ambience and that certain country feel of WGV will always be here no matter what.

The OP enquired about The Legends (of which I know nothing BTW). I am however, familiar with the vicinity, the school system and the conveniences that are not that far away. And so your portrayal of WGV as being in the "middle of nowhere" was somewhat extreme, if not misleading, even in relative terms. I am sure that was not your intention.

daisies76 is on a distinguished road
I 100% agree with Phallicphantom. Both the WGV area and Palencia are great locations with great schools.
