I would like to get a CCP. But don't plan on having a gun on me everyday. Personally, I feel safer knowing that there are some responsible gun owners "packin", just in case I need their help.
Firearm ownership is a right I truly respect. My wife, son and myself have already taken the Basic Firearm Safety course. Planning to take more safety courses. Education is never ending.

what's the deal with the poll? I didn't put a vote in because none of the categories applied to me. But it looks like, just by posting a comment and not voting, it defaulted to "I would never think....." category.

The person who does odds and ends around the house (not me) said that 90% of people have a CCP. Is that right?
The way I see some people drive and act - and knowing that they are carrying a gun is scary.

Where can you take a basic firearms safety course? I was told by a JSO officer that every family in Jax should have a gun.

Three things.
1. backtofla - Our office is downtown and I have to do a lot of work in Springfield. I get to work well before sunup and am at work late at night sometimes. I have been confronted by groups of homeless people and druggies tons of times. And I never go to work without a gun on the weekends because of all of the homeless people doing all kinds of things when most businesses are closed.
2. titaniummd - I took the class for my CCP just a couple of months ago. The class said that less than 5% of Floridians have a CCP. I also looked on line and saw estimates of around 3%, but I can't find an actual article providing the number.
3. HIF - I took the course at The Gun Gallery on Beach Boulevard. I highly recomend them and their store/range. But, I think just about any gun range has the class.
