Default People selling puppies from the sidewalks???

I thought it was so weird when I was passing by on Blanding BLVD and saw some people selling dogs from the parking lot. Is that legal? Is that a commonplace business? It's bad enough to see them selling dogs in Pet shops.

Stop Puppy Mills

Usually, it's just people whose dogs had a litter.
I really don't see anything "wrong" with selling puppies that happen to occur as the result of a housepet.
I'm DEFINITELY not a fan of people breeding them in terrible conditions for profit.

My concern about them selling a 'recent litter' is that they shouldn't sell off a puppy <8-10 weeks.

Disgusting .

No, I would say it's not commonplace, but maybe it is in that location on Blanding .

You can't just open the trunk of your car and sell whatever you'd like, whether it's carrots or puppies, so no, it's not legal.

The pups should be, at absolute bare minimum, 6-8 weeks to have been weaned, but the fools selling the dogs probably don't even know about weaning......they're obviously idiots or they would have had their dog fixed in the first place. It's dispicable.

Here's a parking lot dog story for you.......

I have a neighbor, he's basically a nice enough guy. I have not been thrilled with his dog ownership with his dog #1. He went and purchased a high-strung small dog breed than needs to run and he has no fence. So the dog is a nutjob barking and clawing in their screened lanai where the dog "lives". He gets walked, but he never gets to run because there's no fence. Oh, and if he ever does get out, he's not fixed, so he'll likely impregnate any female dog in heat he finds .

Anyway, this guy is out shopping not long ago and he comes home with another dog! Only this one is huge! This one is going to top out at 80, 90, maybe even 100lbs - this is a BIG pup! And this one is living in the same horrible set-up and there seem to be no intentions on ever neutering this dog either .

Now again, nice enough guy to talk to, but he's not thinking through this dog-ownership thing. This is the kind of person who will take home a freebie dog from a parking lot and this is the kind of frustrating life those dogs will live, if they're lucky (some will have worse fates for sure) .

It's an ugly, ugly, cycle .

Everyone, please spay and neuter!!

That family was out for several hours since we passed them on our way to shopping and they were still there with 2 puppies on my way home.

2 short of a six pack...

riveree ... ummmm -- wondering -- could those sidewalk puppies be those of the wandering dog you found? Granted, the puppies were seen three days ago, but ...

I'm trying to think like a cruel inhumane person, and what if the owner lives north of the city, tries to get rid of the puppies in a more distant locale (Blanding), and then dumps the mother in another distant place (southside, or wherever you actually dwell).

Wonder if there's a connection? Wouldn't it be good so that the criminal (yes, I think of it as criminal) could possibly be caught?

I know, right? Hey Titanium, were these pups 6 week old black pit bull puppies by any chance?

I've been thinking a lot about this today and thinking, the female I found last night did not seem to know the area at all and could not seem to find her way "home", she she must have come from a decent enough distance. The vet said she had been nursing within the last 24 hours, so she was "home" probably less than 24 hours earlier......so my guess would be, yes, she could have been driven down from the Northside or the Westside - far enough so she could not find her way back .

I try to think like a cruel and inhumane person when sorting through this, but then all these other solutions keep popping into my head and I can't find a decent motive for doing this kind of stuff.....the money just can't be that good, and what about the ones who just give the pups away??

None of it makes any sense to me .

If it's a decent breed, it's generally a puppy mill. Very sad.

I don't know much about the pit bull breed as to specific looks, but would a black one be called a Razor Edge Blue? This post doesn't belong on the dog forum, really, because it has to do with the now-not-wandering dog and the on-the-sidewalk-for-sale puppies.
