ok I just called 5 guys and asked and they said "they cook all their meat well done"
So of course I had to ask "How come" lol This confused her for a second she said "thats our policy"

Sigh I guess I have to scratch them from my try list because without "options" a well done burger is just to dry "

oh did I mention Sweet Potato fries !!!!!

I have been seeing tons of commercials for Red Robin so that usually means one is coming

fastninja I am not big on "options" with my food now cars thats a different story
I do burger-cheese-bacon -bun thats it lol no lettuce tomatoes mayo etc.
lol I know boring but hey I don't need spicy food I am "spicy " enough
But hey I look at it this way it has to be a good burger since I don't have "options" to enhance the flavor

Now since we are discussing burgers (lol we are giving pizza a rest) I still visit Steak & Shake they do have great fries and shakes .

karla
We just tried Times Grill for the first time. The burger was good, but not as good as the other places mentioned above. I don't think it could go in the elite burger group like Cheeburger or Fudruckers. The fries were average but the shake was very good. The best part of the restaurant was the atmosphere. Lots of football, beer and burgers.

It's a health thing. They don't want to be held responsible for serving bacteria-laden partially cooked meat. I have seen some people eat meat that was so rare it was still pulsating.

Fast Guys is basically a 'SLow' fast food joint. Beyond what you get on your burger, there isn't much in the way of options. Small menu, but they do it pretty good. If you like what they call "Ocean City Fries" from the MidAtlantic area, then this is the place to go.

I love Fuddruckers. I first tried "The Fudd" when I was in college, and they closed it down when I went back one year for a football game. I was crushed.

They do have a Fudd in the Festival Bay mall in Orlando. Whenever I go to O-town, I stop by there for lunch or dinner. I'll be happy whenever they finally open the one at the Landing.

I love Fuddruckers, but the landing is a very bad location. Even Ruby Tuesdays couldn't make down there. People in Jax don't go downtown much, they don't like to deal with the hassle and cost of parking. That may explain why the landing is 75% vacant. Fuddruckers would do better at the St. Johns Towncenter. I also like 5 guys but they need to expand their menu. My wife doesn't eat red meat so we can't go to 5 guys. They need at least one item that is not red meat on the menu. Chris BigRedRabbit.com Jacksonville Real Estate

macnjax,

1) "even" Ruby Tuesdays (ha)? they aren't doing well overall at all, no matter the location. many, many store closings in the past four years.

2) Tens of thousands go to Downtown for work everyday. Many are there druing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If they got a slice of that action i'm sure they'd be thrilled. Also, there are tons of people that live on all sides of Downtown : Riverside/Avondale, San marco, Springfield...all of which don't mind driving 10 minutes or less to a good restaurant. Also, if you haven't noticed, there is a growing emphasis on reinvigorating Downtown (ie, Jazz Fest, destination downtown, Art Walk, Bay Street, etc)
