Any thoughts on this retail company?

Agree. I wonder why there were folks camped out for the opening this morning. Was there big sale?

REI to open outdoor gear store in Jacksonville | jacksonville.com

Thanks for the info! I'm shocked!

"It will be the first REI store in Florida,...." "Unlike many other outdoor stores, REI carries no hunting or fishing equipment. It also carries no team sports gear."

I remember the store from San Diego. I had no idea they were coming here. Personally, I love it! I welcome a recreational/outdoor store not geared for the "redneck" hunting and fishing crowd. Hopefully, some indication the good ol' boy death grip may be loosening just a tad in JAX. That said, I hope they can survive in FL, let alone J-ville. A lot of what they do sell is useless here ie, mountain bikes, mountain climbing gear, snowsports, etc.

I love to go offshore fishing, does that make me a redneck? And I have "brothers" that love to go hunting too, does that make them rednecks as well?

Can't believe the gaining saturation of these stores now..........but then again it is working for the mattress stores

River City will have Gander and Dicks....Bass Pro will be here shortly.....hopefully all will prosper.

Now if we can put our heads together to make some money off of the Monster Truck craze here.......how about a monster truck drive experience......sort of like the Richard Petty driving experience!

Looks like someone already came up with that idea. Lookls like they are located in Canada though, maybe you can get a franchise license from them.
