Why don't we all disclose our locations?
I know we don't have to (the public profile is optional) but I think it makes perfect sense when we post to let everyone know at least the city where we live. Many of us post from outside of Jacksonville and proudly state that they live in Orlando, Miami, SF, NJ, MA, or wherever. And others we can tell from their screen names. While there are those who will post all different opinions and assertions but wont say where they are posting from (for whatever reason) .
Ofcourse there is no way to verify it and we would have to rely on everyone's integrity, but it helps to give a frame of reference when we say where we are posting from. So why do some of us withhold it? It would also help in terms of feedback because we can sometimes be familiar with another's city and relate to it .
I dont know...is this a good idea or not?

I am from Bronson about 25 miles SW of Gainesville. I work in Gainesville and I was born & raised right here. Oh and Yes Bronson is just a dot on a state-road map!

Northside
I proudly represent Jacksonville, I have no reason to be ashamed of my city. Like my screen name suggests, I'm from the Northside. I'll even go further and say I live among hustlers & gangsters but at the same time, I let people know you can live safely on the Northside.

I guess people withhold that information for different reasons, but I definitely look at a poster's location when reading their posts - it puts their comments into perspective.
There's nothing wrong with keeping some anonymity - that's a good and safe thing to do - but saying you're from Mandarin or Ponte Vedra or Orange Park is probably not going to reveal your identity, these are large areas.
I just use "Jax" as my location since I post across other forum topics, but I readily offer my zip code and general location as a reference point when speaking of an area.
That being said........
Southside/Intracoastal West here ! (I move around....... !)

That's exactly my point...if the "public profile" doesn't show a poster's location, there is no way to put their comments into perspective. Assuming people are being honest. And just letting people know where they are is not going to reveal one's identity.
What it does is lend some credibility to a person who is informing other people about this city. We would also like to know if that person is really living in Jacksonville or just being opinionated from another forum. There is nothing wrong with crossing over forums. I do it all the time just to learn about how people feel about their own cities.
As you see at the top of this post, I live in both Jax and St. Aug b/c I have family in both locations. And, BTW you have alot of credibility, Riveree, so let us know if you decide to enter local politics .
