We may have the opportunity to relo to FL or NC next year around this time. Have 3 kids who we'd put in public school and my husband needs access to a decent airport. The Jacksonville area seems like a nice place to live for many reasons. Seems healthy with employment and it's not too congested with traffic (compared to a city like Tampa). So we've researched St. John's county because of its options with affordable housing and highly rated public schools. However, we'd be coming from a similar scenario (fast growth and schools getting overcrowded). So for those who live on Amelia Island and have experience with Fernandina Beach schools, how happy are you with them? Academics, sports, activities? I see they ranked well but it always helps to go by something more than test scores. I like that FB is an established town. Thanks in advance for your input!

I have been to Amelia Island several times to give golf lessons and a couple of them have been to Airline Pilots whom stated that the closeness of JIA was the main reason that the bought in Amelia Island and not St Johns county. And if you look at some threads on here you will also see that Nassau county also has A rated schools just like St Johns county. You will find everything shopping wise you need in Fernandina that you can find in St Johns county, but more conveniently.
