Hi all,

Moving very shorty to Jacksonville from UK and an bringing a lot of furniture with me. I know that homes are air conditioned but I sensibly assume that garages are not.

My question then is how HOT do garages get and could I store some furniture (say wardrobe or dinning room table / leather chairs) safely in our rental garage attached with out worry of distortion/warping etc until we find our new home.

Thanks
Andy

Garages, dending on how well built and insulated get pretty hot. You could safely store your wardrobe or dinning room table there without much worry. But leather chairs (unless you put a container of Damp Rid with it) might be a little dicey as humidity would be more of a danger to the leather than the heat would be. What I used to do was wrap up the leather furniture in plastic and also put a container of Damp Rid with it and then check on it every month or so. Replacing the container as needed.

Many thanks that's a great help as its amazing how much we have even after radical pruning of our goods. We have a few items like my office furniture that do not have an obvious home in the rental. As the international shipping will wrap them well considered having them just go into the garage.

Will bare in mind humidity on what we store

There are a few (3) temperature/humidity controlled storage facilities around St Augustine that you could look at.
St. Augustine Climate Controlled Storage, Climate Controlled Storage St. Augustine, FL
