I've lived in one DR Horton home and I was not displeased with the product they put out. Was it the same quality as my current semi-custom home built by Dostie? No, not even close. But I wouldn't look down upon anyone who chose to go with DR Horton. As others have suggested, get your own independent inspector to check things out during the build process.

It is not a question of looking down on anyone. People come here for advice and we give them honest advice from our experiences and they either accept it or don't accept it and everything's cool. People will continue to buy Horton houses and those who know better wont.

Pardon my choice of phrases. Better stated, I guess, is "based on my experience with a DR Horton home, I wouldn't tell someone it's a bad idea to buy a DR Horton home."
