Honestly, I would get up a bit early and leave between 5:00-5:30. Google it and which ever is the shortest route take it. At that time of the AM you should not have a problem. You might be a little early, but I would rather sit in the Airport than sit in traffic minutes before you need to be there.

^That sounds excessive. They said they need to BE at the airport by 8:30, not that their flight is at 8:30.

295 is the best bet UNLESS there is any kind of accident. I've been stuck on 295 trying to get north to Fernandina from St Johns for literally hours because of one stalled truck blocking a single lane way up past the bridge. It just takes one lane being closed for that road to completely shut down.

There was a minor slowdown where it merges from 3 to 2 lanes, other than that it was a speed-limit ride using 295. Thanks for the advice

If you are driving through downtown at 7:30, you will not have a problem. Take 95. Listen to the radio or watch google traffic and be prepared to re-route, but your should be fine if you are before 7;45 downtown.
