Can anyone one insight on clerk or longshore jobs at Jaxport? Is it difficult to get one of these union jobs?

If they're hiring it shouldn't be a problem. *The employees work very hard and under extreme conditions. (Just take a peek around 5pm to get an idea. They look so tired!)

Default Jaxport Jobs

Thanks for the replys. It sounds like a connection is required even more so than most jobs. Jaxport aspires to be the port on the east coast (other than NY/NJ) so job growth should be good.

Cool Jaxport Jobs

Jaxport is in a hiring freeze. Probably through the first of the year. They have a website with complete listings, and you NEED to check it daily. If the economy picks up a tad, they will be bringing on many new folks very soon. Otherwise, it may be later in the following year. We have just landed two of the worlds largest shipping lines. Hanjan and M-O, along with a lesser known expansion to Latin America, and another possible huge announcement from the EU. Our Northside between the Zoo and Ocean is one of the largest construction sites since Disney hit Orlando. Each of the new carriers will employ about 1,000-2,000 workers, with another 6,000 jobs each in associated jobs. The Port will double in size with each new terminal opened, meaning we will increase our port 3 - 4X in the next 5 years! It is projected we will be the 2 or 3rd largest port on the Atlantic with what is currently on the way. SO if you can't get that job today, take heart, because it's coming on FAST!

For others, new warehouses, railroads, trucking and such are also expanding work forces here. We have had over a MILLION square feet of new warehouses announced this month alone!

Talking Since 1972??

Sorry about the slow response, computer troubles + major new work with the transportation business within Jax. has held me back.

I'm not a liberty to say who the South American operation is however, one recent announcement is a Republica Dominica direct with one of the major carriers. I fully suspect the SA operations will center around Oil, Coal and Coffee. My Colombian wife would say, keep an eye on this badly reported country to become our number one partner in the South. They already supply 24% of all food imported into the USA, and are #1 in imported flowers, #2 in Oil. Darn near in coal too. Just lived in Medellin the last 3 years and found it a place on the grow... EVERYWHERE! Since Maxwell House and General Foods coffees are made in Jax. You might start looking there.

You got that right. Even in the office people are seriously stressed-out!
