My husband and I are flying in to JAX this Friday to look for a place to rent. We are relocating from Michigan in a month and have not been able to find anything around $1000.00 that will accept a dog. We were hoping to find something in the St. Johns school district. We have a 3 year old that will start preschool next year and we wanted to rent until we find something to buy.

Thanks for the reply. We have inquired about two properties on Craig's list so far and they both were dead ends. We are going to look at Stratford mill appartments because they accept dogs but I would prefer to live in a house and to be in a different school district. We are going to come down and try and get a feel for the area, any advice on where to go? I am very apprehensive about making the move and hope it will be a good place to raise a little one.

It very difficult to find any rental $1,000 or under in the St. Johns County School district willing to accept a pet dog unless you are willing to live in the Flagler Estates area of Hastings. If Stratford Mills Apts will let you sign a lease with them, I would take it. Your child is 3 years old. Once you move to the area, you can decide where you want to purchase a home long before public schools become an issue for you. There are many great privately run preschools in the area.

Thanks, I think that is what we may end up doing. We just need to find somthing inexpensive for now until we can sell our house in Michigan.

If you cannot find a house you might want to check out some townhomes in northern St Johns County. There are townhome rentals available in the Julington Creek communities of Southern Creek and Riverside, or The Gables which is off CR210. All are zoned to excellent schools and most accept pets.
