Yes that's one of the reasons I love the Gulf. Also the rivers down here are better. I remember my first and last time jet skiing in the St. Johns river. It's like rust water.

Not a pond! A real beach! A St. Augustine beach.

What are you talking about? The Gulf is browner than on the east coast...

All up and down the Gulf from Naples, St Pete up to Tarpon Springs ..The beaches are very nice and calm.

On the Atlantic side Jax Beach is nice too... especially in the early morning Atlantic surf for paddle boarding.

The Gulf and Atlantic beaches are both very nice and have their own unique aspects. I could never live in a city that is land locked without a beach.

After living in Tampa and Jax it's hard to say one Beach is better than the other ...I like them both.

I would research more into Orlando if you've even considered it slightly. IMO that is....Good luck

Orlando is not a place we would consider. I have been to Orlando many times on business and liked it less and less every time. Someday I will go to Disney, though!

Jacksonville and Tampa are great areas. I don't think you could go wrong with either area. We researched both areas and made countless exploratory trips from our home in Ohio before we relocated to the Tampa area. We love it here. One thing to keep in mind is that any location north of Tampa will be a bit cooler due to a climatic shift that occurs at that latitude. Best wishes and I hope you find a place you love.

I grew up in Jacksonville, and while I can't say that I miss it; I would MUCH rather move back to Jville than live in Tampa.
Nothing good ever comes from Tampa.

I'm rather partial to St. Augustine if anything..
