Default Gelato in the Jax

Has anyone been to the Funari's on Philips? Looks good! Any feedback?

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I guess this location has officially closed. I've only been in town a short while but had already grown somewhat fond of the place, was sad to see it go.

Anyone know of any other Gelato places in the area? Whole Foods sells some but it's ridiculously overpriced and well, sucks by comparison. (I think the Beach location is still open but figured I'd ask just the same).

I don't make it down to Jax very often, and never even knew about Funari's, but I sure miss eating gelato.
In my neck of the woods, there is certainly not a gelateria to be found; Harris Teeter occasionally has it (in cartons, not freshly made), outside of that, you have to go to Italian restaurants (and no, it's not freshly made).
I am *this* close to making my own.
One of the best purchases we ever made was our cappuccino machine.

Here is a listing of some gelato places--looks like quite a distance to travel.
Kind of a cool website, though.

The Funaris in Jax beach has great gelato (and is still open). Also, One Hot Cookie in Jax beach has their own homemade ice cream that looks and tastes like gelato (looks almost like batter)

I'll have to try Funari's. We've been to Rita's for custard, and it's great.
