I would like to find out the following.

1. how many shooting were in Jacksonville last year?
2 how many were by a person with a concealed weapons license?
3. how many of these were just justifiable?
4. how many by a felon?
5 how many by a non felon committing a crime?
6 how many by a person underage?
7 how many by someone incompetent?

I'm sure there are plenty of websites that compile that type of information. You might start with the local sheriff's website, or the FBI's website.

The FBI's aggravated assaults category can give you an idea of how many people were shot. When someone gets shot but doesn't die, that gets recorded as aggravated assault. If the person dies, that becomes a murder. Currently, the FBI and FDLE only has semi-annual records for 2013 but you can look at 2012 data. If you want to see how many people were shot, stabbed, etc. in a Florida municipal, you would look at the FDLE website and they give you a rundown on the type of weapon used in aggravated assaults. The FBI does the same, but I think they only do it at the national, region, and state level.

Like I said, check out the FBI UCR and FDLE website for specific stats. Those are the best sources when it comes to things like that.

Incompetent at what? What's your definition of incompetent? I doubt you're going to find a stat for that.

Jack Roberts,

Go to the Downtown Police Headquarters and make a public records request for the info you seek. That's the easiest way to get it. It'll take a week or two.
