Thanks again JudyK! I wonder if those who live in Switzerland write "Switzerland" in their postal address, or some other city name (Jacksonville? St. John's?).

On letters I have mailed to my friend, on the envelope I put;

His name
his address
Switzerland, FL. 32259

There isn't a post office branch in Switzerland, the closest being
just south of Julington creek in St Johns, FL. by putting Switzerland
on the address line it helps in the overall mail sortation scheme.

Fruit Cove and Switzerland are "Census-Designated Places" that means they only exist for the purpose of grouping the population together for Census purposes. There is no mayor of Fruit Cove or Switzerland, nor is there any other kind of municipal government there. Nocatee, Palm Valley, Sawgrass, and World Golf Village are also CDPs in Northern St. Johns County.

Hello Rasberry

Switzerland is very nice but not too much of a community per se. You might want to look into Green Cove Springs which is a smallish community on the river. Housing is much more reasonable. And there are community festivals, a farmers market, and a cute "town square" area on the river.

On the downside, it is a distance from Jacksonville, I would guess close to an hour at rush hour. It's about 45 minutes from St. Augustine.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Lots of good info here and I love this forum with all the helpful folks here.

JudeK, I apologize, I misspelled your nick name earlier. I have a good excuse - I woke up at 4 am today, so I'm not myself yet! :-))
