I for one am not happy about wendys at all. Let's get good quality establishments and not mall food court eateries. Keep the food organic and recipes clean, no processed junk! If you build it, they will come!

That's wonderful in theory, but the issue is that somebody needs to build it. Wendy's wanted to build here, and they have. When a clean organic restaurant wants to build here, I'm sure they will.

I don't think a fast food place would do very well, it's only going to serve the residents and there aren't enough of those to keep it in business. No one is going to go into Nocatee to eat fast food. And Wendy's of all places, pretty low brow for fancy Nocatee... It's amazing that Burger King in Palencia is still open, likely because you can see it from Phillips. A Wendy's deep in the heart of Nocatee wouldn't make it long.

No.....no they won't. Fast food franchises like Wendy's and McDonald's exist for a reason, there is and always will be high demand for fast/greasy/fattening food because it tastes better than that organic, unprocessed stuff and most people just don't care about eating healthy. Even if someone actually wanted to build some granola, locally-owned organic health food store, don't you think that a franchise like Wendy's would pay more for the same space? And the local health food store could never compete with the Whole Foods of the world and would fail miserably.

Just because you see some "healthy" people jogging on the sidewalk in the Nocatee neighborhood doesn't mean that there isn't a high demand for that sort of food there.

Personally, I'd love to have more healthy eating options but I know that business model isn't nearly as successful as the fast food chains so I don't complain when I see a Wendy's or a pizza place pop up near me. We all have options, including staying home and eating exactly what you want.

Building the Wendy's in Nocatee is a good hedge against the rising home prices. When the next downturn hits and those big mortgages don't feel so great, the dollar spicy chicken sando's will go down nicely. And the $7 build your own mountain at Yobe will be pushed aside by the tasty 99 cent kid size frosty's. The people will appreciate those options....someday.

Why can Florida not have somewhere that isn't filled entirely with crap chain food?
Dunkin donuts- sucks
Wendy's- Sucks
Sonic Burger- Sucks
Micky Ds- sucks
Taco Bell- sucks.
Chili's, Fridays, Longhorn, Macaroni Grill, insert any chain restaurant-- all suck

Why cannot ONE place in FL have like an organic food/healthy living vegan/vegetarian option?
