I posted this in the general forum and got a recommendation from a regular to post in individual forums to see if anyone could help with information.

My family and I are in the process of moving to Florida. We have spent the last 5 years now traveling the state and found a few area's that we really love. Sarasota/Venice on the Gulf Coast and Jensen Beach on the Atlantic Coast. We are looking for an area similar to these in your area. Our 26 year old daughter and our newborn Grandson (who has spina bifida) will be coming with us. Of all the research we have done, children's hospitals is not one of them. (this wasn't a need until recently) This is now a huge factor in where we relocate to.

In my recent research I found that Jacksonville has Nemours Children's Hospital that has a specialty team for children with spina bifida.

I would like opinions from the locals who have experienced the care at this hospital. Also is there another that I should be checking out.

Thank you for any help and information.

Hello:
I work at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville. The physicians who provide specialty care at the Children's Hospital include physicians from Nemours Children's Clinic (not hospital), as well as physicians from the University of Florida, and a some other physicians in private practice.

Patients with spina bifida can be competently cared for through Wolfson, usually by a team of urologic and orthopedic surgeons and their support staff from Nemours Children's Clinic. I have worked with these folks for other complex situations, and will trust them with my own child .

The hospital also takes care of patients form counties outside the Jacksonville area. Hope this helps.

Thank you PinoyDoc for the information, it does help. So glad I asked. The information I got when I googled it didn't mention Wolfson Children's hospital at all.
