Hello,
Well, my husband will be graduating with a 4 year bachelors degree in Network security and electronics from EKU here in Richmond Ky. He is willing to look into Jacksonville Fl per my request, partly because I lived there a short time back in 2000 so I know a little about the area. And because I long for the beach. I am an ocean girl, and I miss the beach, the palm trees, the salty air. I remember Jacksonville to be a big city so I want to know what chances are there for him to get a job in his field there? Maybe around $20 an hour??

I realize FL is not what one would think about as the ultimate place for IT jobs. Still, there has to be some right? While he starts out, gainning experience I would like to be in a place that is beautiful. There are some nice places here, yet nothing to get too excited about if your not into horse racing and downtown living.

And please tell me what areas to avoid. I lived close to downtown, no, closer to the Regency mall and even then it was a bad area...If we want to live closer to the ocean (not right on it) what areas should we be looking? We would be renters, we do not need it all, just not a dump.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your answers will be helpful in letting us know if it is even something to get our hopes up for

Jacksonville Beach is nice community that is up and coming that I think might be perfect and far as the market for IT market Jacksonville is one the best places to find a job so just start doing some research for some companies around here.

If you lived close to Downtown before you know the area, Riverside/Avondale, San Marco, Historic Springfield. They are not a bad drive to the beach as long as you are not going at rush hour. If you want to be there every day then choose one of those communities.

Jacksonville has become known as an IT magnet and shouldn't be hard to find a job in that field.

IT seems to be pretty big around here...most people I know in the field make a lot more than $20/hour, but maybe that's just the people I know being more experienced/established.

For cheap and close to the beach you'd look at East Arlington. You could also find stuff throughout the vast Southside area and be 15-20 minutes to the beach.
