Thanks KayT! We will likely never go to Orange Park Mall either. Except maybe right to Old Navy and right back out for kids clothes. After seeing a mobile security tower in the parking lot, I knew it was not going to be good. Lol. I wonder how Avenues Mall is. It seems slightly closer than the Town Center. Maybe that will be a good option if not wanting to go to Town Center.

Avenues Mall was nice the few times I've been there. I haven't been there in years, though. Once my son graduated college, got a job, and moved near SJTC, I've just gone there so I can meet him at Cheesecake Factory for lunch. He's always up for a free lunch.

There's a Florida sink hole map and it shows where sinkholes have developed. Jacksonville has very few.

Like you mentioned, the area is huge. Before I visited I thought I was going to buy after staying in temp housing for about 4 -6 months. But, after my visit this past weekend I am pretty sure I am going to rent for a while. I will be following this thread with interest! Good luck.
I've been in Florida for six years and have rented five homes. Yes, it get expensive when moving however I'd rather pay that than live in a neighborhood I don't like.

As a realtor, I do recommend that folks rent before buying. There are so many variables in Jacksonville and it really does take time to explore them all.
