Hi everyone, Was wondering if anyone can give me the pros and cons on The World Golf Village ( Heritage Landing ) and Julington creek. Also Nease and Bartram trail high schools. Which one is closer to shopping? Which is more family oriented? I'd really appreciate any input. We're moving from Long Island NY to St Augustine in June and we've narrowed it down to these 2 communities. I heard St Johns county has good schools. thanks-Teri

Both schools are viewed in our community as good public schools.

Julington Creek Plantation is much closer to shopping than Heritage Landing.
The World Golf Village has a small amount of its' own shopping - golf-related mostly, and a Publix for groceries - aside from that, it's still pretty isolated out that way.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe Nease would be the HS for either community? Isn't Bartram the school for both?
Where will you all be working? Riveree is correct about Heritage Landing - very far out still, so if you will be in or close to Downtown Jax or Southside, JCP is going to be much shorter commute. Aslo remember that JCP has gobs and gobs of subdivisions, with different price points, it is quite bigger than Heritage Landing. |

Heritage Landing kids go to Nease HS. Both communities are great choices, IMO. Heritage Landing is more remote in terms of shopping, but I'm not really a big shopper anyway so Heritage Landing was a better fit for me. If I need to shop, I go to the Outlet Mall, which is about 10 to 15 Mins. away. No big deal.
The way I see it, everywhere I've lived in Jax and St. Augustine became too congested too quickly. I keep trying to stay ahead of the bulldozer, but "Burger King" and "McDonalds" keep following me if you know what I mean. I could do without all that. They are building a new publix, a Target, Walgreens and CVS right near Heritage Landing that should be completed by the end of the year. The old Publix is supposed to become a natural food store(?) After that, I hope all commercial development comes to a halt for awhile, but of course it won't. Heritage Landing is also closer to St. Augustine beaches and downtown St. Augustine which is were I most enjoy spending my time off. So it's really a tough call between the two communities. Julington Creek has some pluses too. It will probably be better for you commute-wise if you are going to work in JAX, and there will befinately be more of an inventory of homes for you to choose from. Both communities are known for being family oriented, and the schools in both areas are well regarded. |

Have you considered any other WGV neighborhoods besides Heritage Landing? There are several in the area that are much closer to the highway (not right on it) yet still not congested like Julington Creek.
Murabella, Samara Lakes, & Turnberry are a few examples. H.L. is another 4 miles west of those communities. Once commercial development arrives, HL is going to be a haul! |

There are many homes still for sale in all areas, so do your shopping and you will get a great house for your money. We moved from Long Island and have never been happier!!! ![]() |

There are a lot of things to consider. Julington Creek is a very nice area, and so is Heritage Landing.
My wife and I moved from Mandarin to Murabella just a few weeks ago. We had looked at Heritage Landing and Grovewood in the King and Bear, but chose Murabella over these because of location and convenience and the bigger lots (65', 75' and 85'). The problem with Julington Plantation is that it is not anywhere near an interstate, so going on a trip requires a small trek to the highway. Murabella is 3 miles from I95. My wife works in the southern part of Jacksonville (Baymeadows) and it takes her 20 minutes to get to work. From Julington Creek, sometimes it takes 20 minutes to get to the highway at rush hour. The other nice thing for us is that it is not far from downtown St. Augustine, which we both like to go to. Also, while there is not much now, in 2 years, there will be plenty of shopping convenience here within 3 miles, including an upscale town center called the Esplanade. If we had to choose between Heritage Landing and Julington Creek, I would choose Heritage Landing. Overall, the landscaping is nicer and it will take less time to get to the interstate. Like the previous post, however, you might want to consider Murabella. Hope that helps. |

I don't know if this represents all of Julington Creek but, driving thru the other day, the homes seem to be segmented into separate little enclaves. And there were walls surrounding these enclaves or cul-de-sacs that gave me a sense of driving past little hamlets. But I guess this could be a good thing for people who like the ultimate privacy.
Murabella, on the other hand, is very open and seems less cluttered because of the larger lot sizes. Others also mentioned that I-95 is just a couple of miles away which is a huge advantage for commuters. This being a Jax forum, St. Augustine doesn't get a whole lot of play. But being close to downtown St. Augustine is one of the things I love most about this area. The city is one of the most unique and attractive places in all of NEFL. Don't know much about Heritage, though. |
