Hello Everyone,

I am planning to relocate to Jacksonville from Savannah, GA in September when my current lease is up. Will be transferrring to my job office down there. Can anyone tell me what the better neighborhoods are for apartments, duplexes, or home rentals that are $600 a month or under? I would like a nice neighborhood for a low-cost rental, 1 bedroom, 1 bath that is 500-600 sq.ft.

That range in Jax isnt going to put you in a "better" neighborhood. My first apartment was a dump built in the 70s and was in an "ok" part of town. It was 660 a month 5 years ago.

I think your best shot in that race would be a room for rent/house share deal. $600 won't get you far at all for your own place.

Some of the houses in the older parts of town (San Marco, Riverside, Avondale) have apartments attached. Usually converted garages. Most won't have a full kitchen, but I think they'd be in your price range, and the neighborhoods are great.

What JessicaJax said. And I would add to that list Springfield. There are some smaller bungalows and apartments in your price range. Check Craigslist.
