For all of you who have moved to Jacksonville in 2007 and have purchased a home, please remember that you must file with the county to be eligible for the homestead tax exemption. If you are in Duval, you can go to coj.net/property appraiser office to get a form and information. You have until March 1 to file for the 2008 tax roll.

Even if the property you bought was already homesteaded, you still must file. It is approx a $500 savings to you plus limiting the increase the appraisers can make to the value of your home.

I do not believe so. You can check out MyFlorida.com. There are also exemptions however, for disabled vets, and other types of exemptions.
