Hi

I am hoping somebody can offer us some information. We are both UK citizens currently living and working in Gibraltar but would LOVE to live in Florida, preferably Jacksonville area. We have visted the area a few times and just enjoy the surrounding, way of life and friendly atmosphere.

I work in banking/finance and my husband is a trucker. We can't apply for jobs because we are not residents but we can't be residents until we get a job?

Do you know any companies in the area who will assist with applications. We can afford to buy property, we are educated and feel we could be an asset to the community we live in.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You don't have to be a citizen to buy property; however, you need to have a visa to come to the US. Please don't come here without a visa, you will be in a world of hurt if you do. My understanding is that the visa process can be long, so you should start now.

I don't know the process, so I'm not going to be much help to you, but I'm sure there are some very knowledgeable people who will chime in here.

Good luck to you!

I'm sure that it's easy enough to find out the process to obtaining a visa...once you've cleared that hurdle...then let us know....in the meantime, what kind of house/area are you interested in?

As for employment, once you've relocated...I'm sure there's plenty of jobs within the trucking industry...banking however, you may start submitting applications to the major banks within the area you're considering moving into. I know of a few bankers that currently live in the historic Springfield area, where the homes are large and the area's made major improvements over the past 5-10 years.
