Is this a good idea? I'm moving to Jacksonville and I can afford a house for sale there but I don't want to move into a place I have to move out of quickly.

If it is a good, or ok idea, please vote yes.

If it is a bad idea, please vote no.

I put a poll in case people don't want to verbalize their opinions.

I'm not at all familiar with the area. Have you ever been there? If so - what did you think? If not - well I'd never buy in an area I've never seen before. Robyn

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

Use the mapping tool linked above to see crime statistics in the area around potential houses you're considering.

It is a sketchy area at best. If it is a super cheap house, it is that price for a reason. do some more research, check the website mentioned above. If you can give an address I might can make a little better assessment.

I would tread very carefully in Lackawanna. Its part of NW Jax which is the highest crime area of the city. Personally i would never buy a house there but that's just me. As a very general rule of thumb you do not want to live in the core city anywhere north of I-10 if crime rate is important to you. Yes there are exceptions, but after a few years here that is my personal observation.
