I have been contemplating moving for some time now. I have been several places both in Florida and otherwise, but the charm and history of St. Augustine (especially) and Jacksonville are by far my favorite. I have been looking at condos and employment both in St. Augustine and Jacksonville

About Me: I have 18 years administrative experience and 18 years waitress/bartending experience and have been working 3 jobs for all 18 of those years. No kids. Single woman 41

Guess my question is where in between the 2 cities where is the best/safest place to settle down? I'd love to live closer to St. Augustine, but job-wise.....??? Ideally (1) administrative career is what I'm looking for but not opposed to bartending/waitressing nights. I want to be close enough to the touristy areas to bartend /waitress if need be but distant enough to focus on my real goal --a career.

I would look in the Urban Core (Riverside, Avondale, San Marco...) that would be in the center of town for a commute to work and close to some entertainment areas that would provide a night job for you.

If that is not your thing, you could look in the south side and the far east side.

For bartending : The beaches ...especially Ponte Vedra has $$$ and it is closer to St Augustine, easier for you to get away ! .... Or St John's town center... I am a server at a restaurant close to the airport and it gets ****loads of tourists but if you are looking for less work more tips definitely the areas I mentioned...

Riverside / Avondale... I wouldn't do it... More of a "hipster" crowd with some urban and county ppl here and there, it is overrated and it is not touristy.. more like an artsy fartsy neighborhood in any given major city
And the rush hour is bad.

Working by the airport I get a mixture of businessmen, tourists, old but established couples, some church folks... I hope it helps!
