Default Crime in Jacksonville, Florida

I wanted to know does most crime in Jacksonville happen in one particular area, or is it spread out into different areas. I heard about the Northside being the center of crime, but wanted to know if there were other parts of Jacksonville that have high rates of crime.

Most of the murders and crime seems to be focused in the NW section of the city. The Mayor has said he wants to create a larger police presence in this area
there are certian areas of the westside that I wouldnt feel comfortable in

Jacksonville (jax) is a dump, anyway you look at it. I was almost robbed by this one guy outside the stadium a couple years ago.

The city is old, full of abandoned factories and angry ghetto folk. Traffic is bad too.

Move there and regret it. Maybe you will get killed by some crack user in Jax... have fun!

I am telling you reality, if you want, you can dream and think Jax is some Sugar coated Disney-type place and you will wake up... the hard way.

Suggestion... try living in Saint Augustine. It is not close to Jax, but it is nice as heck. safe too.

Jacksonville is a dump man. Have your will ready before you move or go to visit!

If you are murdered, robbed, or beaten, don't say you have not been warned. Jacksonville sucks!!

Watch "Cops." They love to feature Jax. Miami, too. Me, I'm thinking that they could feature all of Florida and have a field day.

Dude, when they had Cops in Palm Beach and Jacksonville (Jax), I can't stop watching. Ghettos everywhere in Jax... my favorite was this big woman in the ghetto that beat up this little guy and tied him up! lol Then SHE calls the cops, but guess who gets arrested? The gal!

FL is not the safe, affordable place to live anymore. It is expensive and wages are not holding up. Crime is too bad now... sadly.

Stay away from Jax... or like I said before, if you get killled, rapped, or robbed (or possibly carjacked/kidnapped), then have someone in your family or friends write about it on the board, so people will know we are not kidding. Jacksonville is horrible!

Really? Maybe that is because Jax's crime takes place in the sourrounding areas.

Where are you getting these statistics?

From the City-Data web site....

Here's ORL, http://www.city-data.com/city/Orlando-Florida.html
Here's Jax, http://www.city-data.com/city/Jacksonville-Florida.html

Scroll down to crime for both....

Higher # means higher crime.

For 2004:
Jax = 522.6
ORL = 924.5

Why, may I ask, do you have such a bad opinion of Jacksonville?
How long did you live here?
