I am big into body art and have a strong opinion of certain places around town. Obviously, if you are into mods as well, you know to check portfolios of work done. Just look around, Riveree's suggestion of Fountain of Youth is good, you go to certain people for certain styles. Deborah does great traditional, as she has been in the biz for a LONG time. Ink Smith and Big City are what I like to call the Wal-Mart of tattoo shops. You get what you pay for Not to say you may not find a good artist at on of those places, but your chances are slimmer. Also, my brother owns a shop on the Westside, Blanding Blvd and 103rd Street. Tattoo Thiel's The artists there are great, but I will let you pass your own judgement. You can also check the Duval County health department on the ratings shops get during their inspections, (904) 253-1280.

ALSO, the annual convention is coming Sept 12-14th more info here:

Check out Folio Weekly for a list of clubs/venues and bands playing.
I've played Jackrabbits recently, and yes, it's a tiny hole in the wall, but the band that opened for us was a bluegrass band, and the place sounded really good. The girl that runs sound there does an excellent job but it's more of a younger crowd kind of place. We packed in all of our old mid 30's an and up friends and associates and ran the kids off. LOL!
