My husband and I are moving to the Area...looking for a place to see bands...punk or Rockabilly bands would be great...help. We move next week and I would love to find a bar that is really laid back and cool also. Not sure but its weird for us up here b/c we have body modifications...I hear its a little more open down there.

I don't get out much, but the first place that comes to mind is Jack Rabbit's or Fuel Coffeehouse in 5 Points. I've only been to Fuel once and it wasn't for a punk or rockabilly show (more metal, I suppose), but they host all sorts; it's a tiny, suffocating hole-in-the-wall place. Check out Folio Weekly for a list of clubs/venues and bands playing.

Good advice! We are pretty open down here, for the most part. You will still run into older, conservatives, but I guess that is anywhere.

Haha! I didn't mean to be so broad. Not all conservatives are bad! Some just tend to be a little too "right" for me!

Are you talking about me? Not to worry. You won't likely be seeing me at Fuel.

How about a Burma Shave ad for Jax:

If you like punk music
Or rockabilly any given day
Then try some areas in Riverside
The old conservatives will likely stay away.
... Jacksonville

I love hole in the walls. All of you thank you so much for advice. REALLY great job... I see quite a few bands I would like to see at Fuel. so really excited. Another weird question....anybody know a great place to get tattoos. I know even some of the conservative types might know a place or two. lol.

Fountain of Youth Tattoo in St. Augustine . The woman that owns the shop, Deborah, does beautiful work, and the staff is talented too.

In Jacksonville, Inksmith & Rogers is a popular one. One of my friends had some coverup work done there recently, but it's hard to judge the artwork quality since I'm not crazy about my friend's choice of art (the coverup was done well though).

Jax has a lot of tattoo shops, if you keep your eyes open, you'll see them all over, especially the closer you get to the beach.
