Default Considering moving to Jacksonville

First, a big thanks to all those who post on this site. I have found the information on Jacksonville to be very helpful.

I am considering moving to Jacksonville in the near future and am currently in the process of setting up job interviews. I have lived in the midwest my entire life and am looking for a change. However, is this a place for a single female/ never married/ no children in her early 30's to consider, especially in terms of meeting other people? Any responses/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Yep, the single ratio here is higher for women than men....but that said, I love it here, been here, wow, 19 years, 2 marriages, 2 kids (2 new cats), but it is still a great place. Many different activities outside of work that can introduce you to some singles. For ex: My wifes church has a singles group, and MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) too. Me being a non-religious person, met my wife at work. Plenty of bars if thats your thing.

Try to line up your job first or have some one here to get you started, that is the hard part. The rest is up to you.

I moved here as a single person in my very late 20's and ended up meeting and marrying my husband here. Here's what I learned from the experience:

1) Compared to a major city, say Chicago, you'll find far less singles here.

2) Because it's not a very dense city, you'll need to make an effort to get out and meet people...in other cities, you meet people when you're out and about on the street, that's not so much the case here.

3) Don't locate yourself in a far away location - I made that mistake. I moved to St. Augustine from NYC and found it too quiet for a single person with a tiny dating pool. Friends would set me up on dates, and it was usually with men from Jacksonville, and then you have the whole distance thing (an hour's drive).
