Default St Augustine

We are thinking of moving to St Augustine and would like to know about weather, schools, property taxes, health insurance and home owners insurance. Anyone with any knowledge would be very much appreciated.

You can look up a lot of stats right here on CD. There is no stat page for St. Augustine (too small of a population, I guess), but here is the page for Jacksonville where you can view weather stats as well as other items that are applicable to the Jax "area":

Jacksonville, Florida (FL) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders

Here is the link for the St. John's County school district:

St. Johns County School District - Home

Property tax info can be found here:

Home Page

Homeowner's insurance is very specific to the exact property you're interested in (is it in a flood zone? when was it built? etc.) and your personal credit rating and such, so it's very hard to give much specific info about what insurance might cost you.

If you have any specific questions to ask, add them on this post. The more details you provide, the more detailed feedback you can receive .

Thanks for posting those links. I checked on my parent's property and it would seem that they are not receiving all of the exemptions which they qualify for. You just saved them a few $$. Thanks again!

The city is great to my family. As with all communities there is alway room for improvement. The weather is wonderful here. When the northern states are freezing we are very comfortable. Yet, we are not like the southern part of Florida where it stays so warm that it doesn't feel like Christmas time. It will be fairly cold in the mornings about 40's and then warm up in the day. We wear layers at work as the day goes on we shed the clothes. The downtown area is so beautiful at Christmas times with all the lights and often bands playing. The fall is very nice. At Halloween we like to go on Ghost tours and we haven't missed Holloween Horror Nights at Universal yet. Summer means beach to us. Spring comes early and doesn't seem to last long. We just bought a home here in Saint Augustine and the homeowner's insurance wasn't bad. We are on the westside of interstate 1. This seem to make a difference on the ammount you are charged. The agent said if you live on the westside of interstate 1 you would be charged a coastal rate and it was alsmost twice the amount. Automobile is somewhat higher cause we are so close to Jacksonville metro area. We have found alot of peace living here. We are in our fourties with grown kids now.
