Default My ClaySun story County cracking down on

Code violation. The article goes on to say junk in yards/junk vehicles.Non-permitted accesssory structures=sheds or carports.Illegal signs. It really didn't say what area or all of Clay. One isssue I have is that with the housing market as bad as it is.They remove the reastate open house signs used on the days of the open house. Most if not all agents remove the sign when the open house is over.I don't see any harm in those. We had a yard sale last weekend and put out 4 signs we picked up at the Watson reastate office.Only one was picked up by the county. We took the signs down at the end of the posted time on the sign each day.And picked everything up Saturday afternoon. So nobody knew we had anything.BUT several of the other signs for yard sale that weekend are still there today. The thing I saw was the mention of acceptable fencing materials.I have posted once before about someone close to us that has used and old billboard prrinted canvas as a fence.Of course the printed side is facing outward(anybody need a loan,I have the number to call)LOL.Anybody in Clay have a say??

When I used to visit the Baldwin-Rail Trail I noticed these old as dirt cars in people's backyards. I often wondered if the cars eventually rusted until they are dust. How long does it take for one car to become one with the landscape? It's like those structures they put in the ocean to spawn sealife, these vehicles promote woodlife. The little furry critters jump into the backseat..

I for one, is tired of those signs along the roads everywhere. It only gets worse when it's election time.

I have a friend who lives in Belair (behind OP Mall), and let me tell you some of those homes are in squalor!

It is a very modest neighborhood and anyone living there is probably a pretty laid back person who's not going to worry much about curb appeal, but there are a few street where you'd think there was a contest for the largest personal dump! Front yards with nothing but garbage piled 6 feet high - absolute filth!

I am amazed that the county has let it go on for as long as it has .

I take a lot of backroads as I drive around, so I drive through some dumpy neighborhoods, but there are a few blocks in Belair that take the prize .

I posted about the "bandit sign" issue in the Green forum.
http://www.city-data.com/forum/green...dit-signs.html

1970- is that the same neighbor with the sewage issue? Maybe your neighbor thinks the side with the printing is the "good" side and is only being a thoughtful neighbor by having the "good side out".

Ryde- Your description of the junk cars made me laugh. I never thought about them that way, but I think you are correct- they are not blight, but land reefs!

My understanding is that political signs are protected by the Constitution. Be careful what you wish for, what starts out as a clean-up of a neighborhood will become a group of Nazis who fine you for anything while the area still looks as nasty as ever. Just use Miami-Dade county as an example, Team Metro who is in charge of code enforcement routinely preys on the most vulnerable residents, and issues fines without any proof or reason. I would rather put up with ugly, junky homes than have ugly homes and a bunch of goons trampling the Constitution. Be warned! This is only to gather revenue.

Political signs are protected by the constitution. IF they are on your property. If they are on public right of way, the county will gather them up and send the bill for their disposal to the respective candidate's office. Hillsborough county did this when I lived there.

The signs are a hazard at corners. They block your view of traffic.
