There's a billboard on 95 encouraging homeowners that use city water to water their lawns no more than twice a week. Since we are all anonymous here I was wondering how many of us really set our sprinklers for twice a week now that we are in the 80 and 90 deg temps.

I water manually, so my neighbors would see me if I watered more than twice a week !

Like riveree, I too, water manually. However, I don't believe it's a law to water only twice weekly. But to be a good steward, it's probably better to follow the "guidelines". We water only as much as we have to to keep the grass from burning up. Personally, I think it needs to be watered more than 2x weekly right now because it's so hot and dry, and we get so much sun on our yard. But I'm too lazy to drag the hose around.

Yeah, our yard looks like it can't take much more heat. It's gasping. Hopefully it will rain as soon as the golfers finish their game.

I never water my lawn. Why would I want to encourage it to grow? I hate mowing. While I've never had a perfect looking lawn, it has a mixture of St Augustine, seeded grasses and weeds, it is still green and it looks good to me.

Thanks for the link, Jbm .

Pulled directly from the link:

It IS required to follow the law on watering:

Lack of compliance with the rule first results in a warning and then in monetary penalties.

The fines:

Residential property

1st violation — $50 penalty
2nd violation — $100 penalty
Commercial property

1st violation — $100 penalty
2nd violation — $200 penalty

The bad neighr next to my parents, (who likes to call Team Metro) waters whenever they feel like it. Why not, there seems to be nobody there to enforce watering regulations.

Thanks, Riv. I feel vindicated. I do water 2x a week. But I gotta tell ya, the law is not enforceable. I guess it's left to one's environmental awareness, or whatever you wanna call it.

My neighbor waters his lawn just about every day and I'm not about to rat on him. Plus, he happens to be a cop.
