I have been close to moving to Jacksonville in the past but didn't pull the trigger.
I got a new offer to move to West Jax. The area where I will be working in is close to the "Commonwealth" and "Woodstock" neighborhoods.

Is anyone familiar with these areas? What are some good and safe neighborhoods in the area within a 20 minute drive? I will be renting first and then buying a condo a year later. #1 priority is a safe family oriented neighborhood away from the projects and ghettos.

I am familiar with the Jacksonville Beach / Ponte Vedra / St Johns TC area. Loved those parts but I'd think they are too far for a commute everyday.

I have lived in Murray Hill (32205) for 8+ years, moved from L.A.. What is your budget? Do you have kids, etc.? I will give you a very honest answer.

I wouldn’t live in those neighborhoods if the homes were free. While I don’t know where your place of employment is, I’d look on the other side of I-95

It will be right on Commonwealth Ave getting off the i295.

I am okay with driving to 20-30 minutes to live in a safe neighborhood.

Don't know about now, but when I was growing up there decades ago it was a very unsavory area. Maybe times have changed. I haven't lived there since the early 70s.

Consider Oakleaf which you can get to via I-10 to SR 23 (First Coast Expressway) or areas off of Chaffee Rd.

Woodstock on the list of worst Jax neighborhoods for crime, I'm sure Commonwealth is close to being just as bad.

I will not be living there though. My job site will right after getting off the ramp at 295.

I am asking If i work there , what are some of the best neighborhoods to live in which are no more than a 30 minute drive.

Not really sure what is still out there for $200K and under. Maybe look into the Southside neighborhood to see if you can find a 1 bed/1 bath for that price.
