Getting married on the beach?
Hi all,
My fiance and I are going to elope and would like to get married on the beach. We just moved here a few months ago and don't have any family or friends nearby. Our plan is to get married now and keep it on the DL from everyone until we can afford a big ceremony next year. We aren't dressing up or having a photographer, just want a simple exchanging of vows ceremony for now. We don't have a church minister or priest here we can ask to perfrom the marriage. I know we could just get married at the courthouse but I really have my heart set on the beach. I've tried to google this and haven't had much luck finding an answer.
Any advice~ or recommendations for me? Thanks so much!

what's the budget? there are wedding services on the beach.
google - wedding jacksonville beach
to be down right simple, you just need a officiant and maybe a witness (beach goers?).

My wife & I did something very similar, except this was our real wedding, not just a placeholder. Had about 10 people there total. It wasnt here but in Sullivan's Island (just outside of Charleston, SC), which isnt too terribly far from here.
Anyways, there was a service we used that provides everything for you, you just tell them where you want them to come to. We also hired a photographer for cheap to document & she let us keep all the digital originals, so there was no middle man for getting prints. Many free beaches where available so they suggested a small strip of beach on Sullivan's & it was perfect.
All in all we ended up spending like $300 for the marriage service & $200 for the photographer (which is DIRT cheap). Other things like florists & such were additional if you chose them.
Here is what it looked like.
Lemme know if you want the info & I'll be glad to forward it along.

If you just want a small private ceremony, you just need to find someone to marry you. You don't even need a minister or a priest. A notary has the power to marry you in Florida. Of course, a notary may not do as good of a job as a priest or minister, but it will be valid. You also need to apply for a marriage license in advance.

Our budget is super cheap right now. I would rather save the money for our "Real" wedding ceremony next year. Thanks for all the advice! I think we found a notary who can marry us on the beach. Going to get the marriage license today!
Thanks again!

We did the same, only in Key West. Never bothered with anything beyond an elopement (if I had a wedding, I believe I'd have to invite family, and that's where I draw the line! ).
Eloping is a great idea, don't bother with the "real" wedding unless you really want to...spend the money on a big rock instead .
Congratulations!
