Hi everyone, we have finally decided to give our kids a more outdoor lifestyle and move to Fl. We also have two sets of grandparents who also live on Fl. So now we need to find a house to buy. The market is crazy, inventory is low and the ones listed get scooped up fast. When I was thinking outside the box, I found something called S2A Modular. They build smart, modern, self-sufficient homes. I believe I can read in a matter of weeks! They opened a megafactory in Macclenny, Fl. Anybody know anything else? I'm dreaming about buying land and building one of these models? Am I being realistic?

They don't appear to have built anything. While they are promoting the construction of these "megafactories" ground was only broken last week on the one in Macclenny, outside of Jacksonville claiming it will be in production in about six months. Press releases called it the first the company will build while their website says there is one being built in Texas and another in Southern California; they have plans to build thirty or more around the country and a good portion of the website is marketing to potential investors, rather than customers. Funding is through a non traditional issue called an Initial Licensing Offering which does not appear to be regulated by any of the agencies who normally oversee such things.

They have illustrations and floorplans for a couple of dozen houses and say they can also do custom designs but provide no information about building materials or techniques. I'm not sure about realistic" but definitely believe you are premature, at best.

Thank you! Such useful information, I am unaware of the construction world, hard time understanding it even after reading about certain things I wish I could hire a house purchase/builder consultant instead of using a realtor.

Their home designs are the worst possible you could build in a State like Florida with a hot humid climate, at least according to building science experts. They are not designed to drain water away from the home as well as traditional stick frame built houses and there is always the question of them being able to meet hurricane codes as well. I would avoid.

shaken stirring up negativity about their competition. obviously knows absolutely nothing about s2a modular, amazing homes. puts stick built to shame, and shows ignorance of shakingintheirbootsstir. your complaint about their houses doesn't even make sense. they don't build foundations or drainage system, LOL! They build the HOUSE! not very intelligent to condemn something you haven't even taken the time to look at. free webinar, but no, not you ...with your head firmly planted in the sand.
what i do hate is that I have waited 3 years for the jacksonville plant to start producing s2a modular homes. what on earth is the hold up? and still today as I look for an update, absolutely NOTHING new! still advertising it will be built, but will it? methinks something's wrong here.

Why invest in a depreciating asset? (Modular homes)

Not even remotely relevant! LOL. Homes typically are not depleting assets. Maybe yours is, I do not know. ours has tripled in value in the last 10 years.

totally relevant as a car is a depreciating asset most people buy, paying rent on the other hand is like burning money for fun
