JEA Rate Increase
So I thought I would start a new one on this...
JEA approved the rate increase. It also includes 5.5% that they say was already in the works.
..."figure for October and the months afterward also already includes a separate 5.5 percent rate increase that has been planned since last year."
"The approved plan will bump up the electricity portion of the average JEA customer's bill by $19.20 per month for July, August, and September. Then, starting October 1, that amount would drop slightly to $18.09 per month."

Just one more side we are getting hit on...

They're building new 'green' plants right? Have to wonder if the savings will be passed on to the consumers. Or by that time, the rate would've increased so high that the green savings is insignificant.
Thanks for nothing, dinosaurs.

"JEA officials say the cost of the fuel they burn in their power plants has gone up dramatically, and this increase will cover those costs."
I hope they will be building a new plant, but if that is part of the plan, then they have not disclosed that info that I know of. I would be more ok with it if they were making those types of moves.
But you are right, by then the savings will be insignificant.

let me see, you think that spending millions will translate into savings that can be passed on to you? you're on the right track tho, how long will it take to amortize the cost of the new plant?

Oh great, 4% increase in water rate too. This makes it a home run in our utility rate increases. Sewage, solid waste, electric, water all within a month.

It's called getting screwed by the utlility, without any public input...they just announced it yesterday and the board already approved 15% increase, over the already scheduled increase. Wonder how much their bonuses will be this year?!
