It's now 9 days and no news of my little cuco. My heart aches all the way to it's core. I wish someone would call and say that they've seen him or heard him or something. I don't even know what else to do to try to find him. I've spent 9 days doing nothing but searching and it's tearing me apart not knowing if he's OK or not. This is just the most helpless feeling I've ever had and is hurts so much.

My heart goes out to you. I'm in Orlando and I think that might be a little far for him, but I'll certainly keep my eyes open. Poor little guy. I am so very sorry. As difficult as it is, try to stay positive. I know how wonderful those little birdies are.

I realize that this may not really help ease your sadness of not knowing for certain...but keep in mind, birds can and are very resourceful...even when raised in captivity, when they're out in the world, they'll find food, water and shelter...I'm sure that your little friend is doing okay.

Your friend is not the first pet to make an escape, and they're often spotted by birders. Mother nature has a wonderful way of helping them to survive, their basic instincts kick in and they end up doing just fine. You may even be surprised one day to find them sitting by your window. So place your trust in their internal survival awareness and remind yourself that he's probably doing just fine and discovering a wide world around him. Don't think of him as being alone and afraid....that's our human nature talking...mother nature on the other hand knows he's okay.

Thank you for your kind words. It really means a lot to me. I do try to imagine him out there but it's so very hard. I am consumed by grief and guilt. I miss him so much and pray for the day that I hopefully get a call from someone that they've even spotted him. I would go to the ends of the earth to find him if I could.

Sometimes they fly down onto someone's deck too. It's so hard to know what to think has happened to him, it must be driving you crazy.

I think Jbm is right, just hope that your little bird's instincts are kicking in and he's figuring things out.

When I take my birds outside (I have outside cages for them), other wild birds will fly down to get a closer look. I bet if one of my parrots got out they'd make friends with the wild birds, I bet yours can do the same.

Thank you so much. Two of those I hadn't seen before and am posting there now. I appreciate it so much. I can't let people forget about him, especially local people in the St. Augustine area. I'm so afraid that everyone will just forget about him and then he'll never be found.

My lovebird flew the coop a year ago. Never thought I'd see him again. He comes to 'visit' in the backyard - has a family now. Could not believe it when I saw him, then had running 'conversations' with him. He stayed in the same neighborhood. I think he's much happier now. Good thing is he can survive in this climate.

That's the thing...most times when they end up in the big world, they usually adapt very quickly.
