Also Moving to Jacksonville FL
HI All, I/my family (3 little ones - 4 & younger) are planning on moving to Jax FL, the office will be off Phillips Hwy & rte 202/J turner butler blvd, any suggestion as to where to rent, we plan on renting at least for 6 months before deciding on buying. I would like to stay cls to where the office is located and with a max budget of 1000 per month.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance.

I would suggest not living around that area. Phillips hwy is the hub for prostitution in this city.

DavidSki, you made me laugh!
Jtse, I differ in opinion with DavidSki, you can find a nice rental well within a good commuting distance of your office and you won't be wading in prostitutes.
You can go in a few different directions. You can go north on Phillips Highway, but you'll mostly find houses for rent that way, and $1000/mo. is a little low to rent a house in that area.
You can head east on JTB and find some nice rental apartments off the Gate Parkway and Kernan Blvd exits - $1000 would rent you something nice. I think this might be your best bet considering your budget .

I agree with Davidski, at least if you went north on Phillips. You might find some rentals south on Phillips, there's a complex near the Home Depot that is quite nice that probably will have some rentals. There are both single family and townhomes / condos around there, and it's very nice. You could also look around Goodby's Creek which is the area around Bay Meadows and San Jose, or even in the Bay Meadows area.

I is evident by your posts on here sir, that you are obviously unhappy with residing in Jax. I make this conclusion by the fact that you post grossly exaggerated and false posts about this city. There are people that are going to be moving here regardless of your unhappiness, so it would please a good many of us if you would just drown in your misery and please try not to invoke feelings of dread about this city on others. There are thousands and thousands of extremely happy people living here of all ages, and it is my theory that you would not be happy no matter where you chose to reside. It's been my experience that the vast majority who find themselves unhappy with Jax have never even lived anywhere else at all....how ironic. So please, keep your personal antagonistic attitude to yourself if you do not have the desire to help the people who post here...that is what they come here for, help. You sir, are offering nothing in this area.
There is not, and never has been any prostitution in the area of Phillips Highway close to JTB (202). Yes, 5 or 6 miles to the north of that area, prostitution was rampant. My office is close to that area, and as of the past 3 years, I have maybe seen a total of 2 prostitutes, and the police presence there quickly shuts down this activity. Nevertheless, I would not look for a rental in that area...however, close to JTB and Phillips Highway, I am 100% positive that the poster could find a very nice rental in one of the communities right off of Belfort Road and JTB.
There are: Ironwood (single family and multi-family), Drayton Park (multi), MidTowne (multi 2 and 3 stories). These are all in close proximity to that area and are very nice newer communities. If you wish to drive just a tad further, you'll find a lot nice established single family homes off of Hodges Blvd, Kernan Blvd and San Pablo. These would still keep you very close to work and put you half way between work and the beach!!!
Good luck and a pre-welcome to Florida!!

i can smell them and it ain't pretty.
we used to drive up and down phillips in high school throwing eggs and water balloons at the hookers. we'd pull over and wait for them to walk up to the car window, then BLAMMO! off we would drive laughing our asses off. looking back, we are lucky to have not been shot.

call it an adult entertainment zone, all cities have them, just have the cops sweep them out once in awhile
