Hi! First, I know SJTC and Julington Creek are nowhere near each other. My DH and I drove up from St Aug to SJTC for breakfast at Mimi's (yum!), and when I saw SJTC, I was wowed. We live in the boonies in New England. The thought of having everything I'd want in one place and close by seems like heaven! Are there any nice neighborhoods or developments near there? We tend to like newer homes, but are not too fond of developments where the houses are packed in like sardines.

We have 3 kids and are considering a move to the St Aug/Jax area. My DH travels for work every week, so being closer to Jax for airport purposes would be nice, but we have family in St. Aug Beach and Flagler Beach, and we love St Aug, so being down there would be nice too. Convenience and location are important, but a kid-filled friendly neighborhood with excellent schools is most important. From one of my on-line friend's opinion, at least, that's where JCP comes in. Any ideas what zip code I should use to search for houses there? When I've searched, it seems like JC stretches on forever.

I'm also thinking about going back to school. UNF has the grad. program I'm interested in, so being convenient to UNF would be a plus. Does anyone know in what area the college profs tend to live? (I'm guessing that would be an area we'd like too).

TIA for any help!

Hi janieev
one are you might want to consider is the 9A/Baymeadows area
there are quite a few nice subdivisions
your about 25 mins from the airport straight up 9A
about 25 mins from St St Aug straight shot 9A/95

and about 5 mins form UNF

you don't mention your kids ages but the elementary & middle schools for the are are both grade "A"
they are also building a new high school that will open in 2010

Karla- Thank you. The kids are 11, 4 and 1. 16 more years until we can live wherever and don't have to worry about schools!! 9A is near The Avenues, is that right? I know some areas of St Augustine like the back of my hand, but don't know Jax very well at all.

I've been living in 32246 which is the same zip code as the Saint Johns Town Center.

UNF is in a neighboring zip, 32224, and is directly across the street from the main entrance to the Saint Johns Town Center (literally "across the street" ). So it's all in the same general area.

9A runs right through then both - 32246 & 32224. From these zips, it is a straight shot to the airport. From my house in 32246 to the airport is exactly 25 minutes, door-to-door.

There is a ton of newer construction in this area (Intracoastal West) - what is now happening to North Saint John's county happened in Intracoastal West 5+ years ago, so there are plenty of new/newer developments to choose from.

The elementary and middle schools tend to be very good - usually A-rated - but the high school is overcrowded and suffering from that (lousy rating ). The good news is that a new high school is being built as we speak and will alleviate some of the overcrowding. Some of the kids from the old high school will be attending the new high school, but the school district is keeping the exact boundaries under wraps for now (understandably).

What your budget is and what you desire in a neighborhood will help you zero in on a location. There are full amenity gated communities and there are more modest family neighborhoods with limited amenities.

So I'd recommend looking online at 32246, 32224 and you can add 32225 - these are all nice areas .

Oh, and you'd be less than 15 minutes to the beach as a bonus .
