Default Local fresh fish & seafood markets?

Can anyone recommend some seafood markets - where they bring in local fresh fish, shrimp, crab etc ? Living so close to the coast...one would think places like this would be easy to find. I don't mind driving to the boats or piers if there's a good location like that.

You would think....but hey this is Jacksonville I think most people spend their whole weekends catching their own fish.

Anyways, I think I had asked this question about a month after I moved here. Off the top of my head I remember Singleton's in Mayport as a place to go. I am not sure if you needed to buy in bulk there. I would say snoop around in Mayport. I never did, its like a 30-45 minute drive from my place on the southside.

Actually, I just remembered a place on San Jose Blvd. just north of University (on the right hand side if going north on San Jose) that is a seafood shop. They had a good variety of seafood.....some local....but mostly from other parts of the globe. Expensive too.

I purchase Mayport shrimp at The Fresh Market. It is very tasty and seems fresh to me!

Yeah, in Lakewood, it's called "Seafood" (very imaginative! ), very high quality . It's nestled in with some of the old antique shops in that stretch north of University but south of Oaklawn Cemetery...right across from where Old San Jose on the River is being built.

I've seen these people selling the fish...so it's good quality?

Safe Harbor in Mayport is a good place. I actually drive there from Middleburg once every 4 - 6 weeks to get some fresh fish.

Fisherman's Dock on San Jose (also on Hwy 17 in Orange Park) is a good choice, too.

Been a while since someone posed this question. Looking to buy some live lobsters at anything lower than supermarket price.
Mayport is out of the question, much too far.
Driving along A1A in St. Aug yesterday, didn't see a single fish market, lots of seafood restaurants though. Strange!

The closest one that I personally know of to St. Augustine is Fisherman's Dock in Mandarin on San Jose. I'm sure there are others closer, but I don't personally know of any. Perhaps someone else here will know better.
